A family in Kendu Bay is mourning the death of their kin who were murdered last night on their way home from work.

The 11 pm incident saw the two sisters, Nancy Akoth and Harriet Achieng' meet their tragic end after unknown suspects intercepted them before stabbing them repeatedly with sharp objects.

It is reported that the 35-year-old Nancy and Harriet 26, who worked within Kendu Bay town at a bar and a hotel respectively, were coming from their work places before the incident occured.

The area chief of North-East Rachuonyo location Tobias Aduda who confirmed the incident said the bodies were spotted along a tarmack road within the town by residents who alerted them.

He confirmed that the two were both stabbed on the chest by the suspects who also chopped off their tongues.

The chief said that the circumstances behind the murder are not known, adding, "but we believe the police will unravel this mystery."

He noted that the incident was the first one of its kind in the locality adding that it has shocked the entire region.

"There is nothing that was stolen from the deceased. They had their phones and money with them at the time we found them," he informed.

Rachuonyo North Police Commander Lydia Parteiyie said investigations are underway and urged residents to volunteer any information in their possession about the incident.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kendu adventist hospital mortuary.
