Sam Gituku replaces Gachuri on News Gang
Citizen TV presenter Sam Gituku is the newest ‘gangster’ in town.
Last night, Gituku officially replaced Francis Gachuri on Citizen TV’s New Gang Show, which airs every Thursday, from 10pm.
The Show, for over four years brought together Yvonne Okwara, Linus Kaikai, Jamila Mohamed, Gachuri and Joe Ageyo as they gave a ‘newsroom perspective’ into political happenings of the week around the country.
Ageyo left to join NTV in March 20, 2022, before Gachuri left exactly a year later (March, 2023).
He is the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Interior, led by Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor Abraham Kithure Kindiki.
Introducing Gituku to the Show, Okwara said he comes with a bag full of ‘sense.’
“We have demanded some sense of varied amounts on the show. We have decided to get sense of Samsonian proportion. And who else to hold those pillars of the temple and to add some more sense than our very own Sam Gituku? Ladies and gentlemen, let us welcome Sam Gituku to the news gang from tonight henceforth,” said Okwara, who plays the role of host on the show.
"Welcome Sam, I will just ask for your admission fee,” chided Jamila Mohamed.
“I was warned that you shouldn’t monolise me,” Gituku responded. Monolise is a term used to describe how form-ones are mistreated by older students whenever they join secondary school.
“Welcome Sam, that over here will be your seat,” Linus Kaikai said.
“I am glad to be here. I have watched you since 2018 so more than 4 years. This show gives you the pulse of the nation and I hope that together we can turn it into the conscience of the nation. We have an assignment,” said Gituku.
The news gang responsibility adds onto his morning show roles on Citizen TV.
Gituku hosts the daily Day Break Show.
