Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has been nominated by Jubilee Party as its flag bearer for the August 9, 2022, general polls.
According to the Party Secretary-General, Jeremiah Kioni, Samboja was issued the certificate after the other competitors in the race agreed to step down in his (Samboja) favour.
The current Taita Taveta governor Granton Samboja will be competing for the same seat together with John Mruttu and a renowned communication and public relations expert, Patience Nyange.
Speaking during the event, Samboja said that they will step up vote-hunting in their counties to ensure that Jubilee Party emerges victorious in various seats during the August 9 polls.

He was issued with the certificate at the party headquarters in Nairobi by the Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, and Director of Elections, Kanini Kega.
The party also announced Jubilee Deputy Party Leader and current Taveta Member of Parliament Naomi Shaban who is a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta who is seeking re-election for the fifth term and Voi’s Jones Mlolwa as the party’s choice in the National Assembly contest.
Shaban, has never lost an election since joining elective politics in 2002 where she vied for the Taveta Constituency parliamentary seat on a Kenya National African Union (KANU) ticket and won.
She later defended her seat in 2007 on a KANU ticket where he won before joining The National Alliance (TNA) in 2013 and was re-elected to parliament
The President Uhuru Kenyatta-led party further nominated Joyce Wanjala Lay who will be a Jubilee Party flag bearer in the women representative position.
Lay became the county’s first Woman Representative in the year 2013 on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
She contested for the county’s Senate position in 2017on a Jubilee ticket where he lost to Johnes Mwaruma of Orange Democratic Movement.
Lay will now face off with the incumbent Lydia Haika who will be seeking to defend her position on an ODM ticket.
Voi Member of Parliament, Jones Mlolwa, was also nominated by the Jubilee party as its flag bearer for the same position in the coming August 9, polls.
The party also handed nomination certificates to several sitting and aspiring MCAs who will represent the party in the ward contest.
