Scores escape death narrowly in Kipkelion crash

Several people escaped death narrowly following a grisly road accident along Londiani- Muhoroni road at Jambo Kenya center in Kericho County when a truck with a faulty brake system lost control and ramped into three stationary salon cars.

Confirming the incident, the Kipkelion West Sub-County Police Commander Paul Saitoti said the ill-fated truck was ferrying ceiling boards from Nairobi heading to Kisumu when the accident happened.

The Kipkelion West police boss revealed that a woman and a child in one of the saloon cars sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Kericho County Referral hospital where they were treated and discharged.

“In the truck, there were two people that is the driver and the conductor but they did not sustain any injuries,” said Saitoti.

He said the truck driver and conductor are currently being held at Kipkelion Police Station awaiting inspection from the National Transport Service Authority (NTSA). 

Saitoti has appealed to all motorists using the Londiani-Muhorini route to drive carefully while adhering to traffic rules to avert such incidents especially now during the rainy season. 

“As the investigation into the accident unfolds, motorists should observe road safety to prevent such incidents,” said Saitoti.
