Njugush defends content creators over taxation

Kenyan top comedian Timothy Kimani also known as Njugush,has defended the digital content creators that they were paying tax before.
He said the Finance Bill 2023 is going to be huge burden to them.
Njugush, while in an interview with Daily Nation, today,he said the newly proposed taxation on digital content creators will see discourage many content creators.
He has stated that the content creators, despite the fact that they are earning, the cost of living is hitting them hard.
"The point is not whether you are making money,the point is what is the situation on the ground," said Njugush.
Further, Njugush said it is responsible for everyone to contribute in the generating of revenue via paying taxes as per the law.
The same way other working Kenyans do pay taxes, Njugush argued that also Content creators are supposed to pay too.
"If you ask me,we are not special and everyone regardless even mamamboga should be able to pay as long as you are earning,"he argued.
He has expressed his views towards evading paying tax as illegal.
He urged government to review the current proposed law on the bill so as to be favourable to them.
The comment of Njugush come after Lang'ata MP and also content creator Felix Odour alias Jalang'o said that he is unable to defend content creators in the National Assembly since they have already showcased their wealth online.
The content creator is to be taxed 15% from their earning as proposed in the bill.
