Tension remained high in Loosuk Samburu County after three people were killed when heavily armed raiders believed to be from Tiaty in Baringo County ambushed the villagers.
At least six people sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to Maralal Hospital in critical condition as enraged residents who spoke to Kenya News Agency called on the national government to restore peace in the troubled area.
They petitioned Interior Minister Kindiki Kithure to urgently intervene before the matters got out of hand by deploying more GSU personnel in the affected areas.
Kenya police reservists with the help of conservancy rangers recovered the bodies of the deceased from the scene before they were taken to Maralal Hospital morgue.
They called on the government to ensure that the stolen livestock were returned.
They also urged Samburu County Governor Lati Lelelit to ensure affected families were supported with food supplies and other non-food items as they recover from the shock.
