The World Bank is helping in capacity building of Climate Action Committees at ward level in Kakamega County.
The move aims at developing and implementing tailored climate resilience strategies to respond to the risks identified by communities.
Governor Fernandes Barasa, while speaking during the launch of the Kakamega Climate Action Plan at Munga’nga grounds in Mumias East Sub County said the training will focus on generating a participatory approach on the climate change risk assessment.
He said the training will help develop and implement tailored climate resilience strategies to respond to risks identified by local communities.
“Our being here is partly due to a strategic partnership with major World organizations supporting climate change resilience in more vulnerable communities and the national government” he said.
The governor said that the county is facing life changing threats due to the negative effects of climate change and that concerted efforts must be put in place to address the risks.
