Public participation session ends in Kakamega County

Public engagement sessions have ended in all the 12 Sub Counties in Kakamega County with area Governor Fernandes Barasa promising to improve the lives of the locals through initiating sustainable development.

The Governor pledged to reflect on and integrate the ideas gathered through the meetings into his governance strategies and plans.

He also expressed gratitude to county officials and National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) for their effort to mobilize the residents to participate in the exercise.

“The County officials and NGAO have dedicated their time to participate in this crucial initiative aligned with my sixth pillar on good governance,” he said.

The governor said through public participation, he has been able to identify the diverse needs of the locals to be considered in the fulfillment of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).

“Engaging directly with the people has allowed the County to address their concerns and provide meaningful responses,” said the Governor.

While concluding the session in Shinyalu on Tuesday, locals with high expectations pleaded with the Governor to complete the building of Madala Tea Factory and Shiamakhubu Level Four hospital.

The Governor said the CIDP would be aligned with the National Government’s plan for enhanced service delivery in the devolved units.

The CIDP contains enhanced agricultural production while health services will be expanded with a well-trained and motivated workforce to ensure the delivery of quality services to the people among other development plans.

The CIDP will guide the County’s development Blueprint from 2023-2027 in line with the Public Finance Management Act that requires them to have a planning framework.

The county has allocated Sh96.36 billion to realize the budget.
