Three men in court for gang-raping a woman

Three men were on Wednesday arraigned before a Kapenguria court for allegedly gang-raping a woman in Kalas area, Pokot central sub county.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Kipchumba Kenei, the suspects Aron Ruto, Charles Korir and Erick Pkiech denied the charges.

The three faced two counts of gang rape contrary to section 10 of the Sexual Offences Act in the first count and in the second count they were charged performing an indecent Act with an adult contrary to section 11 A of the Sexual Offences Act.

The charge sheet read in part that on December 23, 2023 at Kalas area in Pokot central sub county within West Pokot County, the three in association with themselves intentionally and unlawfully committed the indecent act.

The gang rape case was first reported at Sigor police station where the accused individually were arrested before being arraigned in court.

  Senior Resident Magistrate Kenei released the accused on a bond of Sh100,000 each with a surety of a similar amount pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The case will be mentioned on December 29, 2023.
