Two robbery with violence suspects have been released on personal bond of Shs. 300,000 with one surety of the same amount each by a Kabarnet court.
The accused Joram Koech and Rooney Bowen who appeared before Resident Magistrate Purity Kosgei were charged with committing the offence within Kabarnet town this month.
The duo was accused that in the evening of unspecified date this year they robbed Alvin Cheruiyot Langat of cash Shs. 7,000 and a smart phone worth Shs. 14,000 of Infinix make.
The court on Tuesday was told that the crime suspects mysteriously disappeared immediately after committing the offence.
The robbery suspects were however arrested by officers from Kabarnet police station on May 2, 2023 following a tip off from members of the public.
When the charges were read to the accused before the Resident Magistrate, the duo who were not represented pleaded not guilty.
A medical assessment report presented to the court indicated that the two co-accused were qualified for trial as adults and hence the law should be applied accordingly in the case.
The court had called for an age assessment report for the suspects after they seemed to be persons of below 18 years.
The court denied the duo cash bail but granted them Shs. 300,000 bond each with one surety of similar amount.
The case will come up for hearing on May 22 when the government will provide them legal representation.
