The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has postponed party primaries for two constituencies which were scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, April 12, UDA National Elections Board chairman Anthony Mwaura stated that the party had postponed nominations in Nakuru West constituency due to unforeseen circumstances.
"The Party Primaries for Nakuru West in Nakuru County have been called off due to unforeseen circumstances. The primaries will now be held on April 19 alongside those of Nandi Hills constituency,” the statement read in part.

The party announced that primaries for the two constituencies will be held on April 19. Mwaura, however, assured members of the public that nominations in other parts of the country will continue as scheduled.
According to reports, the postponement of the Nandi Hills nominations is to allow for the mourning of Wesley Kibet Kogo who was a UDA parliamentary aspirant for the constituency.
Nandi Hills has since attracted interest from the incumbent, Alfred Keter who recently joined UDA, Irene Chemutai and Nairobi businessman Robert Chepkwony.
Sources within the party have since divulged that the delay in Nakuru West is to allow the party to field a strong candidate who will unseat incumbent Samwel Arama who is seeking to defend his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
The UDA ticket for Nakuru West constituency has since attracted Ms Fransisca Kamuren, former Nakuru Town deputy mayor Mwangi Kariko, Mr Richard Obino and long-serving Shabab Ward MCA Kamau Githengi.
The UDA parliamentary aspirants continue with their popularisation campaigns and have since traversed London, Shabab, Kapkures, Barut, Kwa Rhonda and Kaptembwo wards preaching peace in the polls.
Nakuru Town West constituency has more than 100,000 registered voters and the battleground will be the densely populated Kaptembwo Ward which has more than 34,000 registered voters.
The victorious UDA candidate will square it out against Arama and ODM's Andrew Ochoki in the August 9 General Election.
