Award-winning actor Will Smith has issued an official apology following the eventful proceedings at the 94th Oscars Academy Awards ceremony. This is after the actor slapped comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
In his apology, Will Smith described his behaviour as inexcusable and unacceptable adding that violence is poisonous.
He explained that jokes about his wife's medical conditions are just out of topic and it did not sit down well with him.

Will Smith reiterated that there is no place for violence in a world of peace and kindness.
“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night's academy awards was inexcusable and unacceptable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job but a joke about my wife's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally," he said.
"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of peace and kindness," Smith apologised.
The first time Oscar winner also went on to apologise to the Academy and everybody that attended the event for his behaviour.
“I would also like to apologize to the academy, the producers of the show all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and my King Richard family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for us all," he said.
