Investigations have been launched into the murder of a 64-year-old woman in Rachuonyo East Sub County.
The woman identified as Margaret Okoyo was murdered Monday in her home at Kabonyo Village, Kakakang’utu East Sub-location.
Area Chief Kenyatta Olel said a gang attacked the woman as she was bathing behind her house Monday evening.
He said the gangsters attacked her with a sharp object cutting her head severally, leading to her death.
The gangsters later shaved the woman’s dreadlocks after killing her.
The woman was a preacher and locals believe she derived her divine powers of healing from the dreadlocks.
“It seems they first killed her before they resorted to shave her dreadlocks.” Olel said.
Her body was found naked yesterday with the serious injuries on the head.
Olel said blood was also oozing from her eyes, indicating her eyes might also have been interfered with during the attack.
The shaved hair was also placed beside the body.
The administrator said they have not yet established the motive for the attack.
Her body was moved to Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Samson Kinne said investigations have been launched into the incident.
He urged residents to furnish authorities with any information they may have on the matter.
