Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has told President Uhuru Kenyatta that the people of Mount Kenya are liberal and will not have a leader imposed on them, they will vote for who they want.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, the lawmaker stated that residents of Kenya have remained respectful despite differences with the head of state.
Nyoro, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, dismissed allegations by President Kenyatta that the second in command conspired to impeach him, prompting the handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The youthful MP termed the move by the head of state as demeaning.
Nyoro claimed that the frequent meetings held in Sagana have failed to achieve the objective of demonising his Deputy in Mt Kenya.
"The President has been meeting delegations by delegations in Sagana 1, Sagana 2 and Sagana 3 with the intention to discredit, to bring down the popularity of his Deputy," said Nyoro.
The Kiharu legislator highlighted that majority of the people the President meet with at State House Nairobi are their friends and tell them everything Uhuru tells them.
"Majority of the people the President meet in state House are the same people they met in Sagana and all of them are our friends. They usually tell us what they discussed at the meeting," he added.
Nyoro noted that the business community in Mount Kenya has been frustrated by President Kenyatta's government, taxes are high, forcing people to close down their businesses.
