Transparency International, working with other organizations including We Care and Media Focus have rolled out a campaign targeting to enlighten youth in Maseno on matters governance.

Transparency International Regional Coordinator Kenya Ms. Elizabeth Oduya disclosed that the Organizations has initiated a program targeting to encourage the youth towards leadership and governance positions. 

“Transparency International has rolled-out programs targeting the youth in Kenya and engaging them on how they can participate on matters governance and such processes being run by the government in the youth’s department. Today, we partnered with organizations including Media Focus and Jijenge Youth to spearhead this,” disclosed Oduya. 

A student at Maseno University Ms. Stacy Akinyi noted that they have discussed on thematic issues, including public discourse on empowering the masses and how the youth can exploit opportunities in the digital economy among others.

“Today we have engaged the youth on matters public discourse that will expose them on empowering themselves in the society and how they can exploit the digital platforms through which they can advocate for change, by signing petitions and designing memoranda among others,” noted Akinyi. 

The Director of We Care, Ms. Nelly Chepkemoi noted that the platform gives the youth an avenue of sharing their experiences and challenges and how to overcome such.

“I serve in the Board of Directors of We Care and we are offering the platform where we engage the youth and offer them the platform, to be able to address their issues and also come-up with possible solutions in addressing them when it comes to matters governance, public finance, as well as public participation,” Chepkemoi said.
