45,000 needy children to get University scholarship

Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu has assured that at least 45, 000 children from needy backgrounds who excelled in their last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary education will receive national government scholarships to pursue their university education.
Speaking at Nyabururu girls’ National school in Kisii County today, CS Machogu who also issued sh. 30 m cheque towards construction of a multipurpose hall at the institution said it was the mandate of Kenya Kwanza government to ensure the 800, 000 students who leave secondary school every year transit to universities and middle level institutions like TIVETs among others.

Digital Economy Mr. Eliud Owalo said the government was coming up with a comprehensive plan to ensure job creation for the five million jobless youths in the country.
This, he said, was possible through collaboration by the two ministries to ensure youth were competent in the digital knowledge to ensure they leverage on the platform to earn a living.
CS Owalo said the government agenda was to equip learning institutions with digital material to equip the learners with technology knowhow.
Owalo announced that the government will deliver 150 computers to the institution next month so that they can fit in the current job market that calls for computer knowledge.
He said every TIVET institution will have a digital laboratory and every ward a digital hub in the near future.
