Samburu county assembly elects new speaker

Stephen Lenamarle has been elected as the fourth speaker of the Samburu County Assembly.

The elections were held today at the Samburu County Assembly two weeks after Fred Lengees tendered his resignation as speaker following his appointment as United Nations Representative to Juba, South Sudan.

Lemarlei garnered a majority 23 votes ahead of Josephine Kulea who garnered two votes in the race which attracted five candidates but three dropped out a few days to today's elections. 

Before joining the race for speaker, Lenamarle was the Chief Officer for education in the Samburu County government. 

"I thank the MCAs for having faith in me and I will ensure oversight is done to ensure the Samburu people get the service they deserve." he said.
