Arthur Kitonga prays for Raila to 'rest'

An arcbishop has called on Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, Raila Odinga to peacefully retire from politics.

Arthur Kitonga, Archbishop Redeemed Gospel Church said Odinga must come to terms with the 'fact that' time is not on his side, in the country's political sphere.

In his prayer during national Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru gardens in Nairobi, Kitonga urged Odinga to desist from protests and take a rest.

"We pray for Honourable Raila to retire peacefully, the time you have now is to enjoy your retirement," said Kitonga.

He added, "Raila should drop this issue of going to the streets. He should rest. God has given President Ruto the job of leading the nation, we do not want disputes," prayed the Archbishop.

The cleric said President William Ruto has done so much for the country since taking over in August, 2023, an indication that he is the right man for the job.

"What President Ruto has done in seven months, if given five or ten years, he will transform this country to look like Jerusalem."

Raila Odinga has called for another round of demos on Tuesday.

He said the protests will go on alongside bipartisan parliamantary talks.

A bipartisan committee consisting of 14 MPs from both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza coalitions is already in place.
