President William Ruto has announced the appointment of Musalia Mudavadi on Wednesday, July 17, as the Acting Cabinet Secretary in all ministries.

This is after he dissolved all his cabinet including all cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General a week ago.

Musalia Mudavadi, who is Prime Cabinet Secretary and also Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua retained.

According to the gazette notice of July 11, Mudavadi will take over the duties of cabinet secretary in all the ministries.

"That pursuant to article 152 (5) (a) of the Constitution, Hon Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E. G. H., is assigned as the Acting Cabinet Secretary in all vacant ministerial portfolios," the gazette notice read.

President Ruto revealed the new cabinet will be listed after consultations from all sectors.

The remaining officials in the ministries offices such as accounting officers will execute services.

"To establish a broad-based government that will help me accelerate and expedite the necessary urgent and irreversible... eliminate waste and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies and slay the dragon of corruption," Ruto acknowledged, acknowledging that he would be engaging in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations.

The head of state stated the operations of the government will not be interfered nor halt since it will be under the surveillance of Principal Secretaries and other officials.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has advised the President to appoint Cabinet Secretaries that will focus on their role rather than involving themselves in politics.

"Mr President we support you fully in steps you have taken to dissolve the cabinet to reconstitute it afresh and look for cabinet secretaries who will help you run the government," Gachagua said, supporting the president's decision of seeking consultations before appointing new cabinet secretaries after dissolving the first ones.
