Waruguru had expressed interest in vying for Laikipia East parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket, but she was beaten by incumbent Amin Deddy Mohammed.
Mohammed secured 12,743 while Waruguru got 5,595 votes. After the results were announced, the latter disputed them, arguing that he process was not fair and transparent.
All eyes are now on Waruguru as Kenyans eagerly await for her next move. It is highly likely that she could postpone her interest on the seat and focus on national politics, or jump ship and contest the seat as an independent candidate.
A part from Waruguru, other political heavy weights that were defeated in the UDA nominations include; former Devolution CS Charles Keter, Soy MP Caleb Kositany who was eyeing the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara and Chesumei MP Wilson Kogo among others.
In areas like the Rift Valley where UDA is the dominant party, securing its ticket is almost a guarantee of winning the seat as locals have always voted almost to the last an for Deputy President Willam Ruto.
