CS Duale:We are buying modernized weapons that will end terorism

The Ministry of Defence hasannounced that the state is going to purchase more sophisticated weapons to endAl Shabaab attacks in the country. 

The plan is believed to endterror  attacks that have been experienced for a long time moreso from theAl Shabaab.

Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale hassaid that they have a serious program that will ensure the plan is successfuland ensure the security officers have the weapons.

Speaking during the public baraza inMasalani town in Garissa County after meeting with elders and leaders todiscuss security issues,Duale said the government will use all means  toensure  there is no terrorist attack in any part of the country.

Duale said the program will be bothfor the National Police  Service and for Kenya Defence Forces.

Duale has stated that they areinvesting much in buying the security equipment that will enable the securityofficers to restore peace and order in the country from internal and externalattacks.

"We have a seriousmodernization program both for the National Police Service and for the KenyaDefence Forces,"Duale said.

The former Garissa Town Member ofParliament has revealed that  the process of buying weapons will start inthe period of next three months.

Armoured personnel carriers,is oneof the equipment, with the ability to detect improvised explosive devices alongthe areas under their command.

“We will be ready when we areinvesting to buy equipment in the next three months that will help deter the IEDs,theterror groups are  using,”he said.

In addition,he said Kenya will notbe intimidated by the terrorist groups prescribed in the country.

He admitted that they are going tocooperate with the Ministry of Internal Security and National Administration infighting the frequent  terrorist attacks.

Two weeks ago,at least 20 officerswere killed in attacks  by the Al ShabaabMilitia in Garissa and Lamu counties.
