CS Tuya sues estranged husband
By Peter Ochieng
Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Enviromment Soipan Tuya has sued her estranged husband.
The CS is seeking over Sh400, 000 for school fees and upkeep of their two children.
Tuya wants the court to give an order directing him to pay 50 per cent of the school fees.
“An order compelling the respondent to pay 50 per cent of school fees," the court papers read in part.
The CS wants the court to block Stephen Saibulu Kudate from accessing her children, home, the children’s school or anywhere else near them, because of his 'abusive nature.'
“The respondent relentlessly treats the applicant, their children and the applicant's domestic workers with cruelty and has been psychologically, emotionally and verbally abused."
CS Tuya and Kudate reportedly cohabitated from December 21, 2013, and were in a relationship until October 2020, when she claims there was a disconnect.
She claims that Kudate moved out of her home, and settled back with his wife. In 2020, Tuya was the Narok County Women Representative while Kudate was a Member of the Narok County Assembly.
“The plaintiff and the defendants hence lived separately, their association having been frustrated and brought to a quick end by the continuous refusal of the defendant to take responsibility towards upkeep and maintenance of the minors as well as various incidences of violence, abuse and infidelity by the defendant."
The matter will be mentioned on November 13, 2023.
