Elect people with passion for the game, Owalo urges FKF stakeholders

Football stakeholders in the country have been urged to elect the right people into office, during the upcoming Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections.
County polls will be held on November 09, 2024, before the national elections are conducted a month later, on December 07.
Speaking at Nyilima Grounds in Siaya County on Saturday while donating 30 tracksuits to Dero FC players, Eliud Owalo urged stakeholders to elect passionate leaders who will take the country's football to the next level.
"Please elect the right people to office," urged the Deputy Chief of Staff, Performance and Delivery Management.
The donation was made courtesy of the former Cabinet Secretary's Eliud Owalo foundation.
"Elect people who have got passion for the game so that we can uplift players and take our soccer back to where it used to be," he added.
Poor governance, Owalo said is the biggest challenge affecting the growth of Kenyan football.
"The problem we have is that we have been electing the wrong people. Let us use this elections this time round to elect the right people who have soccer at heart."
He was accompanied by a range of Gor Mahia legends, among them Peter Ochieng Dawo, John 'Bobby' Ogolla, Austine Oduor, Laban Jobita and Tobias Ocholla.
The legends urged Dero FC players to embrace discipline as one of the keys to making it big in football.
"If you're not disciplined, can you do well in school? Can you do well in football or any other sport? This means discipline is key," said Ocholla, alias Juakali.
Dero FC was formed in 2010 and registered in 2015.
It is currently taking part in the Siaya County league.
The former CS and his team later in the day donated another set of tracksuits to Siger Football Club.
