Examination stakeholders in Homa Bay County have been warned against engaging in any malpractices.
County Commissioner Moses Lilan said the integrity of the exam must be upheld throughout the examination period.
He said a total of 42,208 candidates comprising 21,569 boys and 20,639 girls are sitting their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams in the county.
Lilan said for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) the county has 1100 exam centres with a total of 40,583 candidates including 20788 boys and 19,795 girls.
Lilan made the remarks on Monday after launching the distribution of the exam from the county container and was accompanied by the County Director of Education Eunice Khaemba.
“We must understand that the results of exams reflect the true academic standards of the candidates and the country. Those who will compromise its integrity will face legal action,” Lilan said.
The administrator asked the teachers to always ensure they consult on issues they do not understand.
Lilan said that parents have invested in the education of their children and they will not want anything that may interfere with the results after they sit the exams.
“The main challenge has been that some managers do things that they don’t understand and end up messing up their candidates,” he said.
The administrator told teachers to always share what they think is a challenge to them.
“Let us close the KCPE chapter in style. The few fellows who may try to interfere with the process will find it rough,” Lilan said.
Khaemba said her office would deal with anything suspicious.
She told exam managers to ensure they follow all exam rules.
Khaemba said among the KCPE candidates, two are inmates at the GK prison.
