Bungoma Maendeleo ya Wanawake caucus on Thursday reaped big from Governor Kenneth Lusaka after their land rates were waived.
Lusaka announced a waiver on the outstanding land rates charges owed by the women caucus in Bungoma town, further promising to clear the principal charges meted on the same.
"Investment in Women is an investment to the community. Maendeleo ya Wanawake is the strongest women empowerment vehicle worldwide we shall fully support your aspirations," he said.
He added that his Executive wing has already forwarded the Gender Mainstreaming Policy to the County Assembly for approval.
"We have gone through the gender policy and seconded to the Assembly for review and approval. With this in place, the issues on mainstream will be solved," he stated.
Lusaka further expressed his commitment to empowering women across the County, assuring them of inclusivity in the upcoming County trade loan disbursement.
"The Trade Department has a well-constituted committee working on the trade loan disbursement. We have already accommodated some of you in the team," he observed.
The governor at the same time, urged the women's caucus to be champions of teenage pregnancies in the region and to downsize the surging numbers among school-going children.
