Governor Wanga launches the Homabay climate Information centre

Homabay Bay County has officially launched its climate Information centre on Thursday morning.
The center was launched by Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga alongside other county officials from the state Department of Energy and Agriculture.
The initiative which was Implemented in partnership between the County government, TomorrowNow and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO) will collect and analyze climate data, including temperature, rainfall, wind, soil moisture, lake conditions, and extreme weather indicators.
This information will be distributed to farmers, fishermen, and the public, aiding in decision-making for farming on farming practices and informing county policymakers. The center will also serve as a call center for disaster risk management.
This initiative is expected to ultimately improving agricultural productivity and climate resilience.

Governor Gladys Wanga said the center sets a new standard in climate intelligence.
"This one-stop hub aims to empower our people with comprehensive information and resources, facilitating informed decision-making and collective action against climate change." Wanga said
