Herders recover over 200 camels stolen by bandits

Interior CS Prof Kithure Kindiki Presided over an operation that saw more than 200 stolen camels returned to their owners at Isiolo on Wednesday. 

The stolen camels were recovered from bandits during security operations by Anti stock theft unit at the bandit prone North Rift. 

The government has intensified war against the livestock rustling network, which is now on the wane after running into a series of washouts under Operation Maliza Uhalifu.

After witnessing the handover of the animals at Mulango Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) Camp, Isiolo County, CS Kithure Kindiki reasserted that the operation will only get more intense until the last glimmer of the criminal gang is snuffed out.

Kindiki also commended political leaders from the counties of Isiolo and Samburu for expressing a genuine willingness to shoulder more responsibility in the identification of livestock rustling suspect. 

Meanwhile, the government has continued with its cash reward initiative for security officers and wananchi who contribute to the arrest of key persons of interest and the recovery of stolen animals.

Regional, County and local security heads, Formation Field Commanders, Political Leaders and members of the public were present at the event.
