I know Raila lost elections - Salat
By Peter Ochieng
Former KANU Secretary General Nick Salat says Azimio leader Raila Odinga lost the 2022 presidential contest, fair and square.
Odinga has claimed that he won the contest with over 8 million votes, against William Ruto's less than 5 million, relying on figures shared by an 'IEBC whistle-blower.'
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission declared Ruto winner of the race to State House with 7.1 million votes, against Odinga's 6.9.
And Speaking in Bomet County on Friday, Salat who backed Odinga's 5th presidential bid said he is confident the veteran politician lost to Ruto.
“I was in Odinga’s camp during the 2022 General Election and I can confidently say that Raila lost the election," said Salat.
He urged him to retire from Kenya's political scene.
"Therefore, I urge him to retire from politics and allow the government to do its work."
Recently, Salat who was first suspended as KANU SG before resigning, joined Kenya Kwanza headed by President Ruto, from Odinga's Azimio.
He said he made the decision after outright lack of direction and unity of purpose in the opposition formation.
“I felt it is time to move and having taken my time to look through, I know UDA is the right party as it has a bright future."
He left KANU after falling out with chairman, Gideon Moi.
