Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohamed has refuted reports that he is plotting to oust Kithure Kindiki as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government.

Suna East MP Mohammed issued a statement on Saturday, October 26, dismissing the reports as "unfounded innuendos."

He cleared the air that he has no interest in the position of the Interior CS, as being fronted by the rumors.

"I have been made aware of unfounded innuendoes to the effect that I have shown interest in the position of Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration and, or, that the ODM Party has submitted my name for consideration in such a role," Mohamed said.

Junet Mohamed said that he was now focusing on recently secured duties as the Minority Leader in the National Assembly.

He echoed the importance of this position and said, "In any case, I have just lately assumed the leadership of the Minority Party in the National Assembly which is an equally very important constitutional office in our governance architecture."

The statement comes amidst growing political speculation over reshuffles in the cabinet of President William Ruto, especially in what is considered strategic ministries, among them the Interior Ministry, which plays a crucial role in national security and governance.

However, Mohamed brushed off any involvement in such discussions, going ahead to reaffirm his commitment to service in Parliament.

This also comes when the ODM party, to which Mohamed is a key member, still plays a pivotal role in opposition politics.

The ODM has yet to issue any formal statements regarding the rumors that their party is pushing for Mohamed's appointment to the Ministry of Interior.

Kithure Kindiki is the current Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary and has been at the centre of the Ruto administration's efforts at dealing with national security challenges, including counterterrorism and police reforms among other border securities.

Mohamed, in his response, remained loyal to the ODM and its leadership, declaring commitment to legislative duties rather than gunning for an executive appointment.
