Morara Kebaso declares presidential bid
By Peter Ochieng
Lawyer turned activist Morara Kebaso has declared his presidential bid, ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
The INJECT party leader on Monday notified his followers on social media that he had joined the presidential race, banking on their support to clinch victory.
“I will run for president of the republic of Kenya. My tribe is the youth of Kenya,” he said.
His post attracted numerous reactions from Kenyans, others in support while others discredited him.
Here is a sample:
Richy Toret: Morara Kebaso, you are equal to the task Sir.
Kipchirchir Ian Koros Jekiit: I wish you could also at times pay a little attention. I have an idea that might be useful to the Inject movement. I came to your inbox but you ignored me.
Kelvin WolfApril: I will vote for you without thinking twice. Alfred Musyoka: I support you to the fullest. We believe things can change in this country; only a positive mindset is needed.
Timo KE: Ati my tribe is the youth of where? Utashangaa kijana hujui hawa watu.
GEN Z KENYA CLUB: Kindly if Matiang’i vies, just leave it for him bro. We want to pull out Ruto, this time round no jokes.
Ian Mwananchi Mmeru: I will vote for better leadership by voting for inject party
Gerishom Ambunya Okonda: When will you run? I was told you're now 28 years
Moses Kamau MK: How about teaming up with Fred Matiangi. It will be an uphill task dealing with an incumbent president, coming together to a repeat of the 2002 revolution that brought an end to the KANU regime could be a good strategy to employ.
Morara started attracting national attention at the height of anti-government protests in July, by exposing government projects which stalled after being allocated millions, if not billions of shillings.
If he goes all the way to the ballot, he is likely to face President William Ruto and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Okengo Matiang’i.
Matiang'i, who is abroad, is reportedly eyeing the top seat in 2027. Others expected to run are ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka.
