Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has weighed in on the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition’s first council meeting set for today, terming it ‘the final journey to a tragic political end’ for President Uhuru Kenyatta. In a statement on his Facebook page, Kuria predicted doom for the President as he starts his journey as the Chairperson of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya council. He said things will start falling apart soon, beginning with the Nairobi gubernatorial race. “Uhuru Kenyatta's biggest gamble of his life is just about to unravel. As he assumes his new role of Chairman Mao Zedong today, his house of cards will start crumbling in the Nairobi Governor race. He will start to look more of a bull in a China Shop than a Chairman Mao. The final journey to a tragic political end starts today,” Kuria posted. Azimio la Umoja One Kenya council is expected to have its first meeting on Thursday, April 22, at KICC Nairobi from 7:30am.The meeting will be chaired by President Kenyatta who is the Chairperson of the council. Over the past week, the issue of presidential running mate and Nairobi gubernatorial candidate has caused tension in the coalition as different parties push for their candidates to be considered. In the presidential running mate debate, Azimio la Umoja women group led by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has pushed for Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua to be named as Raila Odinga’s running mate, while Wiper leaders want the position reserved for Kalonzo Musyoka. As for the Nairobi gubernatorial race, Jubilee is reportedly fronting former Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe, while ODM has Tim Wanyonyi who maintains he will be on the ballot amid reports that he has been requested to step down and deputise Igathe.
