Kenyans across the social media circles have criticized President William Ruto for pointing a finger on the previous Jubilee administration as the mastermind on the ailing economic woes.
In a post on his Facebook and Twitter account that caused a social media Spark,President William Ruto wrote "This is where the problem lies!" as he compared the country's GDP between the Kibaki and Uhuru era.
The GDP graph produced by the standard compared the country's economic progress in terms of Gross Domestic Product between the year when President Kibaki was in Government 2007 to the year 2020 where President Uhuru Kenyataa was on the verge of finishing his second term in office.
According to the Tax to GDP graph, the economic progress was at 22% in 2007 during the grand coalition government which left it at 23.1% in the 2013/14 period.
While President Uhuru Kenyataa assumed office in 2013/14, the GDP dropped to 20.1% dropping further during the administration, it worsened to an all time low of 14% when President Uhuru Kenyataa left office in 2020.
President William Ruto alongside his Kenya Kwanza allies have since been blaming the Uhuru administration for the declining economic trend contributed by the high cost of living and heavy taxation.
The Kenya Kwanza administration believe that they inherited a dilapidated economy that needs more time to secure.
However, Kenyans on social media are hearing none of that as they believe Ruto was part of the Uhuru government and hence part of the economy problem, others think that he should stop with the blame game by taking the bull by its horns and fixing the problem himself prioritizing on service delivery and Economic restoration.
"Mr. Zacchaeus, You were the principal assistant to H.E Uhuru Kenyatta all through his tenure as a president; 10 years to be exact. Blaming Uhuru is simple blaming yourself in silence. You rose to power through lies and manipulation, they cannot work anymore. You are the problem we need to solve in this country."Said Fikirini Jacobs on Facebook in response to the president's post.
" You were the Deputy president stop embarrassing yourself. "Said another Kenyan Gabriel Oguda.
Former roots party Presidential Running mate Justina Wamae blamed Ruto for past election violence including that of the year 2007. " Ofcourse you want to take the country back to where Kibaki left off. But do you care to explain to Kenyans why were you against Kibaki in 2007 that led to PEV(Post election violence) , Lose of life and damage of property." Wamae said.
However, other Kenyans with the likes of City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi defended the head of state claiming that there are bigger problems linked to the previous administration including State capture and tax evasion by the so called 'big boys'.
"H. E explain the problem further by propounding on the nexus between state cupture and those in power owning the biggest business and not paying taxes." Ahmednasir said replying to the president's post.
President William Ruto and his allies have also blamed former president Uhuru Kenyataa for sabotaging his Government's projects and plans by sponsoring opposition demonstrations and what he called" Judicial impunity and anarchy ".
In an uncertain twist of events, Public Service CS Moses Kuria in a social media post claimed that he does not wish to part of the blame game targeting the Previous administration.
" I don't want to keep blaming the previous regime the way the others have been doing. It doesn't help" CS Moses Kuria.
The CS said the government has a plan which he hopes will be delivered by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Kenyans continue to demand for Ruto to deliver on his promises and reduce taxes on 'Wanjiku'.
