Baricho Boys High School in Ndia, Kirinyaga, emerged top in the County, with a mean score of 9.27, reclaiming its position as the academic hub in the region.

Being one of the populous schools with a total of 449 candidates who sat for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination, of which over 400 students out of 449, attained C Plus and above

The schools registered an improvement from 8.6 to 9.27 and also the number of A’s increased from last year 4 compared to 25 students who got straight A's on recently released results.

 The other grades include 86 A minus, 109 B Plus, 102 B, 60 B minus, 41 C plus, 17 C,5 C Minus,2 D plus, and two students attaining D.

Teachers, parents, and neighboring community led by school Principal, Bernard Mwangi, assembled with songs and dances to celebrate this year's results, which put the image of the school and Kirinyaga in the national image

Speaking to the media at the School, Principal, Bernard Mwangi, said that determination on the side of the students and teachers, has made the school register improved performance.

Mwangi said the performance is also attributed to the teachers instilling discipline among the students and encouraging them to work hard.

He added that unity among various stakeholders and support from the parents will further improve the performance, promising that this year’s candidates will offer much better.

“I appreciate the team of teachers, non-teaching staff, Board, parents, and sponsors, for their work toward the success of our school. They believed in us even though the school dropped last year and we had the potential to rise again,” Mwangi said.

The Principal also said students respond to teachers’ directives and guidance, that make them achieve the desired outcome in academics.

“The students believed in us that the systems we subjected them, to were going to work and it worked,” he added.
