The lifeless body of a teacher has been found lying in a pool of blood in her rented house at Oboch Market in Kisumu County.

The deceased, identified as Bridget Ochieng, a teacher at Obwalo Mixed Secondary School is suspected to have been stabbed to death by a man believed to be her husband.

According to Upper Nyakach Division Assistant County Commissioner Darwin Orina, security officers who were notified of the incident at around 3pm on Monday rushed to the scene and cordoned the area.

Irate members of the public cornered the suspect and subjected him to mob justice.

However, police officers, managed to rescue the suspect identified as Joab Otieno Osogo.

He was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu City for treatment.

Orina called for calm, adding that security officers were investigating the matter to establish what transpired.

Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) Kisumu branch Executive Secretary Zablon Awange condemned the killing and asked security agencies in the area to speed up investigations and bring the perpetrator of the heinous act to book.

Awange said it was unfortunate to lose such a dedicated teacher through gender based violence.

The body of the deceased was moved to St. Joseph Nyabondo Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
