The Forum for African Women Educationalists Kenya (FAWE), a non-governmental organization, has involved both me and boys in the forefront of the campaign to eradicate Gender Based Violence(GBV) affecting women in Migori and Homa Bay.

Involving men is believed to strengthen the campaign and create public awareness.

FAWE has stated that its focus is on providing education based on the culture of the community and empowering women to ensure they thrive successfully.

FAWE, in cooperation with the office of the First Lady of the Deputy Governor of Migori, has vowed to end FGM, early marriages, and teenage pregnancies in the region.

Everlyne Mahiri, the First Lady of the Deputy Governor of Migori, has praised the move to involve men and boys in the campaign, expressing hope that it will yield positive results.

Mahiri has said that the approach seeks to address early and teenage pregnancies and early marriages, which are major obstacles to the economic development of women in society.

"This is a great initiative to tackle the menace of early pregnancies, teenage pregnancies, and early marriages by engaging men and young boys," said Mahiri.

She further stated that they are going to implement proper structures and plans to ensure their objectives in the campaign are achieved.

"I want to assure them that going forward, this initiative will be taken to the next level. We will put structures into the government of the country to ensure that each and every suggestion, especially those related to this campaign, is considered," she explained.

The Ministry of Health's "I Care About Her Campaign" is working together with FAWE and other stakeholders to engage schools in mainstreaming this campaign.

The aim of eradicating FGM is to ensure the country is industrialized by the year 2030 and aspires to be a middle-income earner.

The Ministry of Health is mobilizing stakeholders to actively engage in this campaign.
