By Joshua Cheloti Chama cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria has reacted to a decision by his Narc-Kenya counterpart Martha Karua to join the Azimio la Umoja Coalition. Karua on Wednesday afternoon, March 23, 2022, formally declared support for Raila Odinga, who has since been endorsed as the coalition’s presidential flagbearer. Responding to the new developments, Kuria said he respects the decision that Martha Karua has made. If you decide otherwise you will still remain my sister, my senior and my friend,” Kuria had said on Tuesday. But with her decision to go the opposite direction, the vocal and controversial legislator said it was ultimately a win for Kenya. He also noted that democracy will prevail, as the stage seems set for a Kenya Kwanza-Azimio la Umoja titanic battle. “I respect the decision by my sister Martha Karua to join Azimio just like she respected my decision to join the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. Ultimately Kenya is the winner and democracy will prevail. May the best team win,” Moses Kuria posted on his Facebook page. While formally supporting a Raila Odinga presidency, Karua noted that she had keenly looked at both sides and came to a conclusion that Azimio la Umoja has more good people. “I have looked at both sides and identified a critical mass of good people within Azimio la Umoja. And that is all that is needed to steer the nation in the right direction,” the Narc Kenya party leader said during a media briefing in Nairobi after meeting the ODM leader.
