Moses Kuria to governor Mwangaza: Scatter your enemies
By Peter Ochieng
Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Trade and Investment Moses Kuria has advised Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza not to allow her enemies to unite.
Speaking during the launch of the Meru County Intergradation and Industrial Park (CAIP), Kuria seemingly suggested the governor will not survive if she allows her enemies to unite against her.
"Punguza vita, kama mimi niliweza kupunguza vita pia wewe unaweza. Nimekupatia wiki moja ya kuhesabu maadui wote na upunguze kwa asilimia hamsini. Usikuwe unapigana na kila mtu. Wacha kuweka maadui wako wote pamoja," Kuria said.
This translates to, "Reduce the fights, if I was able to reduce them, you can also do it. I have given you one week to count and reduce your enemies by 50 per cent. You should not fight with everyone and avoid uniting your enemies)."
On her part, the first term county boss maintained that some people within and out of Meru are inciting Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) against her.
She was the first governor to be impeached by MCAs after the 2022 polls, before being saved by the Senate.
The county legislatures are reportedly preparing another impeachment motion against her.
The governor has previously accused among others, CS for agriculture Frankline Mithika Linturi for fighting her without a reason.
Before the launch of Meru CAIP, CS Kurua said Linturi wanted him to postpone the event owing to infighting in Meru. Kuria declined, stating that lack of jobs among the youth cannot wait.
"I have launched County Aggregation & Industrial Parks in Busia, Kakamega, Bumgoma, Trans Nzoia, Migori, Siaya, Kisii, Nyamira, Mombasa, Kajiado, Narok and Laikipia Counties. I have received requests from my colleague Mithika Linturi and the Meru leadership to postpone due to the prevailing political situation in Meru. With profound respect I will not postpone. The joblessness and poverty facing our people can not wait foe even one hour as we fix our broken politics," he said on Sunday.
Mwangaza is the only governor elected as an independent candidate.
