Thika Town legislator Patrick Wainaina Jungle has announced that he will be contesting the Kiambu gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate after missing out on the UDA party ticket.
Addressing journalists in the county on Saturday evening, Jungle said the nomination exercise was flawed and accused the party of having a pre determined candidate.
According to the MP, there was an elaborate plan to ensure Senator Kimani Wamatangi wins. He said his popular name ‘Jungle’ was not included in the ballot, adding that his image was not clear, these he says were meant to ensure voters are confused.
“There was voter bribery which was very widespread; election officials elected were instructed by the party to favour one side.
“My name ‘Jungle’ is official and recognized in my ID. When I went to register myself at the party, my name was included as Patrick Wainaina Jungle. Now in the ballot papers, they only included only two names, Jungle was not included,” he was quoted by Citizen.

Kiambu is one of the counties to watch out for in the August election as it has very strong candidates battling out for the gubernatorial seat.
Wainaina’s announcement has further complicated the equation for Kenya Kwanza as it means that if the alliance does not settle on one strong candidate, the votes will mostlikely be divided amongst the four of them; Wamatangi, Kabogo ,Kuria and Wainana, thus giving Governor Nyoro an easy path to victory.
Being President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home county, Kenyans are closely following the developments in the region, waiting to see whether DP Ruto will beat the Head of State in his home turf.
