Over 14, 000 candidates to sit for the forthcoming national exams

Over 14, 000 candidates in Loitoktok Sub County are set to sit for the forthcoming national exams which are scheduled to officially start in a fortnight.

The 14, 818 candidates include 5,906 grade six candidates from 130 schools who are set to sit for Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams.

A total of 6, 551 candidates from 115 primary schools are set to sit for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) while 2,361 candidates from 29 secondary schools will sit for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

While speaking to KNA at his office, Loitoktok Sub County Director of Education, Mr Peter Bitah said his department has done sensitisation to school heads and held meetings with all key players concerning administration of the exams.

Mr. Bitah further pointed out that the Ministry of Education will be working closely with all relevant stakeholders such as the office of Deputy County Commissioner, school heads and security agencies to ensure the exams are administered smoothly.

He said rehearsal for KCPE is scheduled for October 27 while the exams will kick off on Monday October 30 while KCSE will officially kick off on November 6 for all schools, however those doing music and home science will start their exams on Monday October 23.

On the anticipated challenges due to El Nino rains Mr. Bitah observed that they have identified nine primary schools and four secondary schools that are likely to experience problems of transportation of exams due to flooding.

The educationist wished all the candidates success in their exams reminding them there is no shortcut to success but preparing and working hard.

He has also warned them to avoid engaging in exam malpractices or being lured to buy fake exam papers which may lead to cancellation of their exams.

Mr. Bitah has also urged all school heads, invigilators and security personnel to ensure smooth administration of exams to avoid irregularities.
