Pastor Ezekiel's accounts unfrozen
By Peter Ochieng
Pastor Ezekiel Odero is a relieved man.
The New Life Prayer Centre and Church in Mavueni, in Kilifi County is free to access the accounts which were frozen about two weeks ago.
Police were investigating the Televangelist over claims of money laundering, indoctrination of his followers and links to controversial Pastor Paul Mackenzie of the Good News International Church.
The court on Monday heard that five banks; namely Cooperative, NCBA, Equity, KCB and HFC complied with the order allowing investigations into the preacher’s various accounts.
The court was told that none of the accounts are in the name of the Pastor, who enjoys massive following across the country.
The accounts are in the name of either the Church or the school.
Pastor Ezekiel operates an international school in Mavueni.
This month, the Pastor was arrested and spent seven days in custody before being released on Sh1.5 million cash bail, or Sh3 million bond.
