Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has  expressed confidence that Deputy President William Ruto will win the August 2022 presidential election. Speaking during an interview with KTN News on Tuesday night, Wahome argued that the DP enjoys support in vote-rich regions of the country. She predicted that the DP will win in the first round, adding that Ruto will have the support of at least 32 counties out of the available 47. "We are very confident, I can tell you we are winning this thing, first round, early in the morning. The entire Rift Valley, the entire Mt Kenya, Coast we have 50%… William Ruto will get more than 32 counties,” she said in part. Meanwhile, a recent opinion poll released by the Radio Africa Group indicated that Odinga had made up ground and is slightly ahead of DP Ruto in the presidential race. According to the Radio Africa poll, 47.4 per cent of respondents said they would vote for Raila while  43.4 per cent said they’ll vote for DP Ruto. Raila’s Rating was a 12.3% percent improvement from February where he had 35.1% percent. The DP on the other hand dropped by 4% as he had previously polled at 47.4%. The numbers are expected to change regularly as we head closer to the polls and as different coalitions acquire welcome defectors from various parties. One key factor that is expected to change the numbers drastically is the choice of running mates by the different presidential candidates.
