South Africa tops Men’s Rugby world rankings
By Robert Mutasi
With the new release of the World Rugby Rankings, South Africa regains the first position with impressive form and strength in the latest encounters.
This ranking shows fierce competition in international rugby, whereby teams from different parts of the world fight for superiority on the pitch.
South Africa was followed by New Zealand, which won the second position with a courageous climb from the fifth position last year.
The All Blacks, as they are commonly referred to, have been nothing but an immovable force in the sport, filled with dynamic gameplay and tactical play.
Their recent displays of brilliance have rejuvenated their standing and have the supporters on cloud nine. Ireland clings to third place, a slight setback from second.
The Irish team is furthering their reputation for strategic gameplay and solid defense that makes them almost anyone's nightmare to compete against.
Meanwhile, France remains in fourth for consistency that keeps them in the upper echelons of the ranking system.
Argentina had massive jumps to fifth from eleventh. The Pumas indeed showed great determination and will to put their evolving talents to good use on the international stage.
Scotland also went up to sixth place to reflect some really strong recent performances by the team.
However, England has fallen to the seventh position, which also is encountering some issues that stained their earlier status.
The traditional English juggernaut will have to find its way back up again as they enter into the upcoming tournament schedules.
Australia retains the eighth place, occasionally bursting with patches of its old excellence, still striving for supremacy in the competitive rugby arena.
It rounds off the top ten, with Fiji being known for its thrilling, fast-paced style of play, and Italy continuing to develop as a competitive force within the sport.
In the African continent, Kenya and Uganda stand at positions 36th and 37th, respectively, indicating the emergence of talent in the region.
The performance of both teams implores them to move up the ranking and strive to feature on the world stage.
This through sport and development program commitment from them is highly crucial for their future successes.
As the rugby calendar progresses, of course, teams want to get into their positions and hopefully push further towards an improved ranking status as big international matches approach.
It is relentless competition, where each match is always vital for setting the order of future rugby worldwide.
The dynamism of the rankings further speaks to the fact that anything can occur in rugby, and each game is an opportunity for a redefinition of excellence.
