Wanyonyi wins Gold in 800m

Emmanuel Wanyonyi has won gold for Kenya in 800m Men's race in Paris Olympics..

He became the third fastest person in history when he broke the record of 1: 41.19.

Wanyonyi led the race all the way from the beginning to the end. 

Wanyonyi ended the undefeated streak of 25-year-old Canadian World Champion Marco Arop, who won silver with a time of 1:41.20.

Bronze went to Algerian Djamel Sedjati, who finished in 1:41.50. 

Wanyonyi, who is 20 years old, is the youngest gold medallist.

It is his first gold medal at the Olympics. 

To date, Kenya has four gold medals from the Paris Olympics 2024.

Kenya qualified for the fifth Olympics in the men's 800 finals thanks to Wanyonyi's victory.

In the men's 800m, David Rudisha excelled twice in 2012 and 2016 respectively. 

On August 1, 2024, Wanyonyi turned 20 years old.
