We are not after "nusu-mkate", Senator Onyonka
By Robert Mutasi
Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka has refuted claims by Kenya Kwanza that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader, Raila Odinga, is in pursuit of power sharing.
Onyonka has stated that the opposition is committed to fighting for the betterment of all Kenyans, with the aim of lowering the cost of living.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Onyonka affirmed their intent to remain in the opposition and continue to oversee the government.
He accused Kenya Kwanza allies of spreading propaganda, suggesting that Azimio is only interested in power and not the people's interests.
"There is no government we are going to share with William Ruto. What we want to do is to oversee his government with legitimacy and fairness," Onyonka stated.
Additionally, the Senator asserted that the seats Kenya Kwanza's government claims Azimio is after are already occupied by Kenya Kwanza allies.
"Those positions have been taken. PS positions have been taken, CS positions have been taken, CAS quarters have been thrown out," said the Senator.
The politician urged the government to stop humiliating opposition leaders who are exercising their rights and duties.
He called upon the Kenya Kwanza government to foster a culture of democracy, including freedom of expression, without any threat.
However, Onyonka assured President William Ruto’s government that they would lend their support should the government act in the people's best interest.
