By Caroline Gatwiri The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, temporarily closed the airspace around Wilson Airport. The closure is to pave way for military operations that are being conducted by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) at the Lang'ata Barracks. According to reports, President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to preside over the military operation. Regional airline, Safari link following the announcement by KCAA directed its customers to reschedule their flights past 5 pm. “Military operations are currently going on at Langata Barracks. We have advised our customers to take flights that depart after the exercise in the evening. Some took early morning flights,” the airline stated. President Kenyatta is expected to launch various projects at the Lang'ata Barracks including the Ulinzi Sports Complex which was constructed by KDF. The complex boasts various sports amenities including a football field, an athletics track, basketball court, among others. The field will be home ground for Kenya Premier League side Ulinzi stars, and also Ulinzi basketball team. "Commissioning of Ulinzi Sports Complex-Lang'ata by H.E Hon Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces," KDF had tweeted earlier on Wednesday. |VIDEO COURTESY| Carol Radull| https://twitter.com/CarolRadull/status/1513401949592375297
