A 16-year-old girl escape death by a whisker after being attacked by a crocodile

The girl is said to have been fetching water from River Athi in Kithayoni village, Kitise/Kithuki Ward in Kathozweni Sub-county.

 "The members of the public responded to the distress call and immediately rushed to the scene of the incident and rescued the girl from the crocodile's jaws,” said Makueni County Red Cross Coordinator Evans Peter on Thursday.

  "Urgent communication was made to the County Rescue Team, who responded promptly and made arrangements for a private vehicle to swiftly transport the girl to Makueni County Referral Hospital for medical attention," noted Peter.

When contacted for comment, Makueni County Kenya Wildlife Service Warden Mr. Gabriel Kiio confirmed the incident adding that the minor was in a stable condition.

The girl who sustained hand and leg injuries on the Thursday 11 am incident, is currently recuperating at the Makueni County Referral Hospital for treatment.
