AFC Leopards end Nairobi City's winning streak

AFC Leopards earned a hard 2-0 win over Nairobi City Stars in a FKF Premier League match played at the Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Leopards went into the match persueing their fifth win of the season but had a heavy task to end Nairobi City's eight match consecutive winning streak. 

Vincent Owino was denied his seventh goal of the campaign by Levis Opiyo who made a brilliant save to his strike in the 21st minute. 

Chances were dry on the first half with both teams settling for a draw. 

AFC Leopards were the better side after the restart and they managed to break the deadlock in the 48th minute courtesy of Maxwell Otieno.

Minutes later, Calvins Opollo's header was pushed into Ingwe attacker Hassan Beja’s who headed wide of the target from close range.

Leopards coach Tomas Trucha made the first changes of the match in the 62nd minute - pulling out goalscorer Maxwell Otieno and Beja Hassan for Nyakeya Clifford and Omune Victor respectively.

Leopards doubled their lead through Kevin Kimani, who beat Mukolwe with a powerful shot to make it 2-0 to the hosts in the 72nd minute.

Leopards substitute Dennis Oalo missed the target after being sent through on goal in the 89th minute. 

More woes be fell City stars as they were reduced to 10 men in the 91st minute reducing the pressure for Ingwe. 

The victory saw Leopards climb up to the 11th spot on the league standings and they will now travel to Machakos where they are scheduled to face Kariobangi Sharks on February 4.
