Alex Mwakideu joins Radio 47
By Robert Mutasi
Alex Mwakideu, a morning show host at Milele, has left Media Max Network to join Cape Media Limited's Radio 47.
He will be co-hosting a morning show with his former colleague, Emmanuel Mwashumbe, on "Breakfast 47" from 6 AM to 10 AM starting next Monday.
Mwakideu had previously announced his departure, then quickly retracted it due to a misunderstanding.
He expressed his gratitude to his listeners on his official Facebook page, stating that they were the reason he was in radio.
"It has been 5 years ndani ya Milele FM. Nime enjoy. Let me say asante sana to you, the listeners because without you, hakuna radio. You are the reason we do this thing called Radio. Thank you all. Page closed. Onto the next one! Guess tunaenda wapi next," Mwakideu wrote on his verified Facebook Page.
Mwashumbe confirmed Mwakideu's move to Radio 47 and his departure from Media Max Network.
In a conversation with Radio 47's Hassan Mwana wa Ali, Mwakideu clarified the confusion surrounding his departure.
He explained that he had submitted his resignation, which was accepted, and he announced his departure on social media.
However, the station's management asked him to clarify that he hadn't left his job yet as an official communication letter hadn't been released.
"I handed in my resignation letter and they accepted it. I asked if I would leave now and they said yes. So I took to social media to announce my departure," the famous media personality began.
Mwakideu disclosed that the station was hesitant to let him go, leading to some back-and-forth before he received official written communication to leave Milele FM.
He started his media career as a news presenter at Baraka FM, a Mombasa-based radio station, and has also worked with Radio Maisha of The Standard Media Group and Deutsche Welle [DW].
His career in media has spanned over a decade.
