Alfred Mutua: Impeaching Gachagua is About Saving Kenya's Soul from Tribalism and Corruption
By Robert Mutasi
Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua spoke passionately about the ongoing motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, emphasizing that the move is not merely political but a moral imperative aimed at saving Kenya’s soul.
Mutua's statement reflects deep concerns over the direction the country is heading, particularly pointing out issues of tribalism and corruption, which he believes are threatening Kenya's unity.
Mutua criticized Gachagua for allegedly fueling ethnic divisions and perpetuating corrupt practices, arguing that Kenya must resist efforts to divide the nation along tribal lines.
"The curse of africa has always been tribalism and corruption.Today's Kenya cannot be taken back, " he said.
He described Gachagua's leadership as a risk to national cohesion, urging for an end to the "tribal drums" that intensify inequality and ethnic strife.
According to Mutua, this impeachment process is about protecting the country’s integrity and ensuring that Kenya remains united and just for all its citizens.
"We are one country, one person and it will remain so.That is why this motion for the impeachment of rogue Deputy President Rigathi Gacgagua, is not about politics but about saving Kenya,s soul." Mutua stated.
This sentiment follows heightened tensions as Gachagua faces increasing pressure from both political leaders and the judiciary.
A High Court decision cleared the path for the impeachment motion to proceed in Parliament, rejecting attempts to block the debate.
Mutua’s remarks underline the gravity of the situation, framing the decision as one that will shape Kenya’s future.
This aligns with the broader sentiment of various leaders who believe that the country's political and social fabric is at stake.
