Bukayo Saka signs new Arsenal contract

England foward Bukayo Saka has signed a new long-term contract with Premier League side, Arsenal.

The left winger put pen to paper on Tuesday, in an new contract to retain him at the Emirates Stadium until 2027.

Saka, an Arsenal academy product was highly expected to sign a new contract.

The 21-year-old star has become arguably the leading light in Mikel Arteta’s young side.

He joined the Club in 2010. Saka will secure a significant pay increase on his existing deal, signed in 2020.

He said Arsenal is the right place for him to be.

“I’m just really happy, I’m at the right place to make the next step," he told the Club's website.

“It’s a beautiful club and I’m just so happy. When I was at the academy at Hale End, I was just a kid who wanted to play and enjoy, and obviously as you get older it gets more and more serious. It’s been a great journey with lots of hard work and I just kept that drive in me. When I made my first team debut, that’s when I really realised like: ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve really done it.’ I’ve achieved that dream and it’s now about staying here and maintaining that," he added.

The foward has made 178 appearances for Arsenal, 152 of them starts.

This season, he has started all Arsenal's games except one, scoring 13 goals in return.

After pushing for so long all season, Saka says it is unfortunate that Arsenal lost the title to Manchester City.

“It hurts a lot to even think about how we’ve ended this season, and to think about what could have been, but one thing I can say is since the last two, three years I’ve been playing, I’ve seen this team and the club grow and we are going in the right direction."

Last week, goal keeper Aaron Ramsdale signed a new deal and next on the line is defender William Saliba.
